The RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L IS USM Lens follows the popular EF 100-400mm II as a versatile telephoto zoom lens for photographers of any level. Canon has re-envisioned optical performance by incorporating a Super UD element, and six UD elements. Fluorine-coated front and rear elements round out the design by providing additional resistance to dirt, moisture and oils, while the L-series construction with dust and moisture resistance provides reliable performance even in the worst shooting conditions.

Up to 5-Stops of Optical Image Stabilization with Three Different Modes

Super telephoto images can be difficult to keep sharp without a tripod or monopod, in large part because of movement at the camera. Canon has incorporated their latest Optical Image Stabilization in the RF 100-500mm, so images will remain tack sharp, even when handheld. Three stabilization modes are available—standard, panning, and during exposure only—conserving battery power if needed by customizing the level and type of stabilization.

Fast, Quiet Auto Focus with Dual Nano USM

The RF 100-500mm utilizes two NANO USM focus motors. By using two motors, Canon is able to achieve nearly silent autofocus operation, while simultaneously saving power. The combination also allows for high-speed autofocus operation on even the fastest moving objects for easily tracking subjects while shooting stills or movies.

Minimum Focusing Distance of 2.95 ft / 0.9 m

The RF 100-500mm lens has an astounding close minimum focusing distance of 2.95 ft./0.9m at 100mm, or 3.9 ft./1.2m at 500mm. Significantly closer than expected, this means that whether shooting birds, sports or people, the RF 100-500mm can handle even unexpectedly close subjects with ease.

RF Lens Control Ring

Like all RF lenses, the RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1l IS USM incorporates Canon’s control ring, which can be customized to control shutter speed, aperture, or ISO easily and without the need to look away from the viewfinder. Thanks to this innovation, changing settings on the go without interrupting shooting has never been easier.

Compatible with New Extenders

For the ultimate in long-distance shooting, the RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1l IS USM is also compatible with the new RF 1.4x and 2x Extenders from 300-500mm. An internal stop will prevent zooming below 300mm when used with these extenders. Using the 1.4x will provide a focal length range of 420-700mm, and the 2x a range of 600-1000mm.
